2009 HPA Tech Retreat issues call for presentations
The Hollywood Post Alliance Technology Retreat, to be held Feb. 18-20, 2009, at the Westin Mission Hills Resort and Spa, in Rancho Mirage, CA, is now accepting proposals to be presented at the three-day event. The conference addresses a wide variety of current and future technical topics each year, from digital and HD broadcasting to 3-D production for feature films.
Submissions, which must be received by Oct. 24, need only be abstracts — perhaps a sentence or two —describing the specific topic of discussion. Technical subjects can cover any aspect of cinema, video, audio and television technology, including acquisition, storage, processing, distribution, presentation, monitoring, forensic analysis and psychophysics. Presentations must not be marketing or sales pitches.
Selections are made based not only on apparent merit but also on trends that emerge in the submission process. Decisions will be made in late November.
The HPA is also accepting proposals for breakfast roundtables to be conducted on Feb. 19 and/or 20. The roundtables are concurrent and start at 7:30 a.m.
Registration for the retreat will open mid-November. If you are interested in participating in the demo room, information will be available soon. For those not familiar with the retreat and the roundtables, more information can be found at www.hpaonline.com/mc/page.do?sitePageId=23995.
