ABC made use of Nucomm HD microwave technology to keep viewers abreast of developments in the Nov. 4 presidential election.
Supplied by microwave transmitter and receiver provider 3G Wireless, ABC kicked off its coverage on the eve of Election Day with an array of Nucomm gear and continued to use the equipment throughout the rest of its coverage.
To capture all of the action, 3G Wireless turned to four of Nucomm’s 7GHz CamPac 2 wireless camera transmitters, one 2GHz CamPac 2 and five Newscaster DR diversity receivers. The broadcast was televised live from New York City’s ABC “World News” and “Good Morning America” studios. There was also a crew using the Nucomm products for man-on-the street interviews live from Times Square.
According to 3G Wireless marketing director Adam Nepp, using the 7GHz Nucomm CamPac2 gave the network the flexibility to use multiple frequencies to overcome the extremely harsh RF environment of New York City.
