Abit will show its automation system running for the first time on the Linux operating system at IBC2008. The updated central control computer offers broadcasters a future-proofed solution that has the capacity to adapt to changes in the broadcast environment.
Abit previously used OS9 for central processing, which the Linux application will replace. The user interface uses Windows for the strength of the graphic tools available.
The new Intel processing card increases processing power plus offers remote Web access for off-site staff and improvements to the backup system. The company will also be demonstrating a new software release that enables closer integration with other IT systems and allows a superior level of granularity for program material on the time line. This makes it easier for broadcasters to control data in relation to the use of Dolby, parental control, aspect ratio and HD, for example.
