Adobe to integrate VizrT's 'Curious' Rotoscope Technology
Vizrt, a major European producer of real-time 2D and 3D graphics system for HD and SD television content and games, has entered into an agreement where Adobe Systems will license, develop and distribute proprietary software known as Curious gFx. Adobe will integrate the technology into its own Adobe software products, too.
Curious gFx is a raster paint, retouching and rotoscoping software package for film, video and broadcast that was developed by Curious Software--which was acquired by Vizrt on June 1. The Curious software gives Adobe access to a new paint engine for moving images and a sophisticated roto-matte system for enhancing future product.
Vizrt said it will continue to support existing customers of gFx, but the standalone product's future will now be determined by Adobe. The Norwegian company will continue to offer the gFx technology as a licensed option within its Curious World Maps digital creation software, and its authoring and design software such as Viz-Artist, which can be used for HD, SD, computer animation and analog video.
