Adobe Update Includes H.264 for ‘HD Quality’ Streaming
Adobe Systems said its software update for its Flash Player 9—code named Moviestar—incorporates both H.264 video support and HE-AAC (High Efficiency AAC audio), along with “multi-core enhanced full-screen video playback,” according to the San Jose, Calif.-based firm.
Adobe said H. 264 will permit the ramp up of “HD television quality” for video and audio via the Adobe Flash Player on computers and other H.264-ready products. The new update for Adobe Flash Player 9 is now available in beta-test mode for downloading from Adobe Labs.
H.264 encoding, which is used in HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc technologies, was already made available in Adobe’s Premiere Pro and After Effects software.
