Adtec Gear Delivers Charter Channel
Cable operator Charter Communications recently launched The Charter Channel using nearly $1 million of Adtec Digital equipment in 180 of its largest headends. The new channel provides educational and customer service information for Charter's nearly 3 million digital customers.
New content for the channel is placed onto DVDs and sent to participating cable systems with play schedules the first week of every month. Each participating cable headend is equipped with Adtec's Soloist2-S-DVD MPEG2 playback system with a DVD drive that reads content off the DVD from Charter and records the information onto to internal hard drive.
The content can then be manipulated into The Charter Channel's program schedule. Adtec's playback system also allows for automatic switching, advanced scheduling, playback verification and high-quality MPEG2 playback with up to 60 hours of storage.
