Advanced Broadcast Solutions, a Kent, Wash., systems integration firm, has completed a new high-definition mobile production vehicle with multiformat capability.
The 24-foot truck was designed to meet the needs of television broadcasters in the Pacific Northwest and was first used on May 17 by KHQ-TV in Spokane, Wash. It produced the station’s first live telecast with coverage of “The Lilac Parade,” an annual event in that city, and has been used since for several other live local HDTV events in Washington state.
“We’re finding that there is strong demand for this production truck because it fills a need very cost-effectively,” said Mark Siegel, ABS president. “Broadcasters would never be able to afford to build their own multimillion dollar HD mobile unit. Nor can they pay the exorbitant rentals that truck vendors typically charge major networks to use their trucks to cover major sporting events in HDTV.”
The vehicle is equipped with state-of-the-art gear including Thomson LDK-4000 HD cameras, a Broadcast Pix Slate 5016 2 M/E production switcher, a Roland RSS M-400 48-channel digital audio mixing console, an Edius nonlinear editing system, a ClearCom Eclipse 24 channel intercom system and Sennheiser microphones.
Use of the production vehicle is also targeted to television production companies, theatrical and musical events, and houses of worship.
