Airborne microwave helps capture celebration of Dubai resort opening
Palm Jumeirah Island, an artificial island constructed off the coast of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, was lit up in a giant fireworks display Nov. 20 to celebrate the launch of the Atlantis resort.
Broadcast RF provided aerial coverage of the fireworks, using two helicopters equipped with Link 1103 XP transmitters and four-way diversity operating with a receive site on the ground, in front of the hotel. The event was covered by about 20 cameras.
While the fireworks took place over the shore, the microwave links and helicopters covered the event, sending signals to the microwave receive farm located at the front of the hotel. Those received microwave signals were transmitted via fiber back to a portable production unit.
