Analog Broadcasting Ends in Czech Republic on 11/11/11
I’m not sure if it was by purpose or simply coincidence, but the Czech Telecoms Office (CTÚ) has picked Nov. 11, 2011, as the date analog broadcasting will end in most of the Czech Republic. Numerically, 11/11/11 has a distinctly binary look to it, although I’d probably have picked a slightly earlier date such as, October 10, 2011 (101011)
The Prague Monitor article said the plan is voluntary and its implementation cannot be forced. Existing broadcasters will have to exchange their current analog channels for digital channels. CTÚ Chairman Pavel Dvorák said the plan could come into effect sometime in May and stations would have 90 days to decide if they want to become part of the plan. Two regions, where there are technical problems, would continue analog broadcasting until June 2012.
