Another Public Broadcaster Selects Leitch's AgileVision
New York-based WMHT, a public broadcaster serving eastern N.Y. and western New England, is the latest PBS member station to choose Leitch's AgileVision platform for its digital broadcast system.
WMHT joins Kans.-based Smoky Hills Public TV, KTWU and WCNY in N.Y., South Dakota Public Broadcasting, Penn.-based WLVT, Idaho Public Broadcasting and Maine Public Broadcasting in implementing Leitch systems.
Leitch attributes its public TV station popularity in the DTV transition to providing a system that is cost-effective, has quick "time to air," low complexity and compressed HD and SD splicing, logo overlays and rate control.
AgileVision features MPEG-2 real-time encoders and redundant storage in the same rackmounted unit and PSIP generation, datacasting services multiplexing and automation/control features.
