Apple’s iTunes Movies Rentals to include HD movie titles
Apple said last week it would make more than 100 HD movies with 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound available by the end of next month as part of its newly announced iTunes Movie Rentals service.
In addition to the HD titles, more than 1000 other movies will be available. Films from 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros., Paramount, Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), Lionsgate and New Line Cinema will be offered.
Users can rent movies for as low as $2.99 and watch them on their Macs or PCs, all current generation iPods, iPhones and Apple TV. Users of the service can rent HD movies directly from their widescreen televisions using Apple TV.
Titles are priced on a sliding scale: $2.99 for library titles, $3.99 for new releases. HD versions of new releases will cost $4.99, and HD library titles are priced at $3.99.
