Arkansas TV Station Knocked off Air By Transmitter Site Fire
The KHBS/KHOG web site is reporting the KHBS channel 40 analog transmitter is off the air due to a fire at the transmitter site Saturday morning. See the article Fire Strikes 40/29 Transmitter for details.
According to the FCC, the Fort Smith, Ark. Hearst-Argyle-owned station has its DTV operation on a separate tower. The article on the KHBS/KHOG Web site indicated the DTV station is still on the air. Hearst-Argyle also owns KHOG-TV channel 29 licensed to Fayetteville, Ark. CDBS records show the station's transmitter is located over 70 miles from the KHBS transmitter and in spite of the headline on the KHBS/KHOG Web site, should not have been affected by the fire unless the KHBS site was being used to relay programming to KHOG-TV.
