As shown at IBC 2009, AJA Kumo SDI routers take up small space
AJA Video Systems showed its new Kumo line of compact SDI routers at IBC. The model 1604 and 1616 routers are small and cost-effective, while offering features like SDI, HD-SDI and 3G SDI compatibility, as well as Web-browser control over a LAN allowing integration into any post and production environment.
Kumo routers will be available in two configurations: The 1604 supports 16 SDI inputs and four out, and the 1616 features 16 channels in and out. Running embedded Linux, Kumo routers support HTTP and SNMP control and monitoring. An internal Web server allows immediate configuration and operation via any standard Web browser on any OS, without any additional software to buy or install.
The devices feature automatic EQ and reclocking, support for embedded audio, 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN, HTTP, SNMP, RS-422 Control, redundant, isolated power inputs, and reference via BNC, passive loop, PAL/NTSC color black or HD tri-sync.
The routers are expected to ship this winter.
