Ascent Media Selects Sundance Digital's Titan for Facilities
Ascent Media Network Services recently purchased and implemented Sundance Digital Titan multichannel automation systems for the organization's Stamford, Conn. and Burbank, Calif. network origination facilities.
The two installations currently support transmission of several sports and entertainment channels with additional networks slated for the near future. The Titan system can control hundreds of channels in a facility or remotely manage playlists at multiple geographically separate locations.
Since Ascent Media's master control receives live and recorded programs, interstitials and playlists from numerous sources, the Sundance Digital configuration includes the Intelli-Sat recording management system to schedule, capture and record satellite delivered programming. Playlists are executed and the signals fed to Ascent's earth stations for satellite uplink and distribution.
"These are not single use installations, but multicustomer, and that's why scalability is key. Now we don't have to bring in a whole new automation system for the next customer," said Kurt Liddi, vice president of engineering for Ascent Media Network Services. "We can cost-effectively scale up our existing platform to accommodate additional customers."
