Associations partner to upgrade antenna Web site
The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) last week said they were partnering to produce the AntennaWeb.org online antenna mapping program.
The associations will work together to enhance the Web site’s infrastructure. Work will include site capacity upgrades, site design improvements and database upgrades that will further improve the user experience, the associations said.
AntennaWeb.org is an online antenna mapping program designed to help consumers and electronics retailers determine the proper outdoor antenna to use in order to receive free local broadcast channels.
It was at the center of a controversy that erupted in February when research firm Centris published a study, based partially on data obtained from the Web site, claiming that DTV coverage could leave millions without over-the-air (OTA) reception following the shutoff of analog TV transmission in February 2009.
