ATSC Plans Audio Summit
The Advanced Television Systems Committee is setting up a half-day seminar on audio technology to be held in conjunction with the upcoming Hollywood Post Alliance retreat scheduled for Feb. 18-20 in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
The ATSC audio program, “ATSC Audio Summit, Ver. 2.0,” is set for 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 17 at the Westin Mission Hills Resort and Spa.
Planners say that the agenda will include AC-3 discussions and demonstrations, with particular emphasis on lip-sync and loudness concerns. Program topics are expected to include: “Essential Elements of the Dolby Digital Signal,” “Audio Measurement, Mixing and Monitoring,” “Audio Metadata,” “Dynamic Range Control” and “Sorting Out Lip Sync.”
The presenters are all audio professionals who have been active in these areas and are familiar with the work ongoing in the ATSC audio arena.
"The presentations at this summit are important for the industry, and reflect the work by ATSC over the past year," said Jerry Whitaker, ATSC vice president. “While this work is ongoing, a number of important discoveries and conclusions have already been made. What we have learned so far will be outlined during this seminar.”
