AT&T debuts HD over IP in Texas
Major telco AT&T announced last week the availability of HD programming from more than 25 program sources to San Antonio subscribers through its U-verse TV service. The service includes the HD signals of local network affiliates.
In addition, AT&T is offering Web-based access to subscribers’ DVRs, the availability of new set-top boxes from Motorola and the ability to record up to four SD programs at once using a DVR receiver.
Currently, AT&T is offering a single HD stream. A second HD stream will be available in 2007, the company said. This will allow subscribers to use two streams of HD programming and still have two SD streams to either watch or record.
