Aug. 19 deadline set for FY2004 licensing fee payment
Broadcasters waiting by their mailboxes for payment notices outlining what they owe for fiscal year 2004 licensing fees will have a long wait.
The FCC is not mailing notices, and the deadline for paying annual regulatory fees for fiscal year 2004 is fast approaching.
The official fee payment window will be open Aug. 10; however, licensees can send payment prior to that date. All fees must be paid by 11:59 p.m. Aug. 19 or a 25 percent late penalty fee will be assessed.
Congress requires the commission to collect fees to recover the costs associated with enforcement, policy and rulemaking, user information and international activities.
Media services licensees, excluding broadcast auxiliaries, have new ways to determine regulatory fees owed for fiscal year 2004. Those interested in using the system may visit www.fccfees.com and click on the “Online Viewing for Fee Postcards” link. Those visiting the site must type in the station’s call sign or facility ID number.
All payments must include a FCC registration number (FRN) to be processed.
