Avid Inks Deals with NBC, Meredith
Avid Technology recently struck a deal to supply 11 Avid DS Nitris systems for NBC's internal graphics department, known as DesignWorks, as well as its MSNBC cousin. The Avid systems will replace a variety of linear and nonlinear suites that are now being used by both operations.
The Avid DS Nitris is an all-in-one post production system that features a Media Composer-like interface, as well as advanced compositing, paint, CG and special effects. The technology behind DS Nitris is format-independent and the system can handle any form of digital video from 25 Mbps DV to 1.5 Gbps HD-SDI.
The company also announced that it will ship several nonlinear editing systems to six additional Meredith Corp. television stations, which will standardize Meredith on Avid news production technology. The broadcaster will install Avid Unity News servers, as well as NewsCutter Adrenaline and NewsCutter XP NLE systems. Also included in the deal are AirSpace and Xdeck digital servers.
