Avid re-brands Pinnacle Liquid line
Avid Technology has renamed its Liquid product line, acquired from Pinnacle Systems, the Avid Liquid family.
Formerly developed by Pinnacle Systems, the Avid Liquid family includes new versions of the Avid Liquid and Avid Liquid Pro systems, both of which include features for users who want a single application for creation and delivery of tape, DVD and streaming media. The product line also includes new software for the Avid Liquid Chrome HD family.
Avid Liquid retains all of the existing Liquid features, such as native HDV editing, GPU-accelerated effects, background rendering, Dolby Digital 5.1 surround audio with AC-3 encoding, and DVD creation directly on the video editing timeline.
New features of the software include: SmartSound for custom music creation; new native editing support for the WM9, DivX, and MPEG-4 codecs; real-time effects and more than 50 plug-ins from the Commotion effects suite; Avid Open Timeline, to allow native HD and SD editing on the same timeline in real time, without transcoding; and the ability to preview HDV in SD, for viewing on a client video monitor with Avid Liquid Pro.
All products within the new Avid Liquid family run on Windows XP, and are expected to ship by November 22. A variety of configurations and pricing is available.
