Three major New York City-based post production facilities are among the first customers purchasing Avid's new DS Nitris system, which began shipping this month.
FrameRunner, PostWorks and the Image Group are adding an Avid DS Nitris to its existing base of Avid products and will use it to finish increasing amounts of HD work, including commercials, television programs and feature films.
As part of Avid's Digital Nonlinear Accelerator line introduced at NAB, Avid DS Nitris offers the processing power of more than 30 Pentium 4 processors, and is the only finishing tool on the market to deliver real-time effects and color correction with two streams of uncompressed 10-bit HD media and eight streams of 10-bit uncompressed SD media.
