BBC Factual Studios selects Panasonic DVCPRO HD
The BBC has selected the Panasonic range of DVCPRO HD camcorders and VTRs for the production of all HD programs commissioned by Factual Studios.
Starting next month, all HD programs will use the AJ-HDX900 DVCPRO HD camcorder as the standard acquisition product. The BBC Factual Studios approved products also include the Panasonic Varicam and the Panasonic AJ-HD1400/1200/1700 VTRs.
Recorded footage will be edited using Apple Final Cut Pro HD nonlinear editing systems (NLE). This NLE system allows programs to be directly edited in the native DVCPRO HD format via firewire, streamlining the production process and minimizing any quality loss.
By the end of 2010, BBC Factual Studios plans to shoot all of its programs without tape in HD using the Panasonic P2 system.
