Belgian RTBF adopts Panasonic P2HD
RTBF, the public broadcast station of the French-speaking community in Belgium, will adopt Panasonic's P2HD format for SD and HD acquisition in its new IT-based production system.
Based on Panasonic's P2 solid-state memory, P2HD will allow RTBF to share media with all users and will facilitate DVB-H, IPTV and Internet applications.
RTBF will use 60 P2HD Panasonic AJ-HPX2100 camcorders, which enable broadcasters to record video onto a memory card. The P2HD cameras also provide production flexibility to the station with their ability to shoot multiple image formats, including DV, DVCPRO, DVCPRO 50 and DVCPRO HD.
The AJ-HPX2100 camcorder features a multiformat capability that allows recording in 1080i/720p HD or SD. For high-quality video, it offers DRS (Dynamic Range Stretcher) functionality along with an enhanced digital image treatment technology and a 12 linear matrix color compensating function.
