Belo to Build Broadcast Facility in the Big Easy
Dallas-based Belo is consolidating station operations currently housed in the French Quarter by building a broadcast production for CBS affiliate WWL-TV. The facility will also support UPN affiliate WUPL-TV that Belo has announced it will acquire.
The 61,000-square-foot broadcast center will provide full-digital production and HDTV broadcast capabilities. The facility will include a multi-use news production studio, a full-digital edit suite, integrated Web access for the latest news feeds, production stations for the interactive media team and administrative offices.
To honor the man who served as WWL's president for 37 years, the facility will be named the J. Michael Early Broadcast Center.
Belo is working with The Beck Group to help with the planning and development of the project.
Construction is slated to begin immediately and should be ready for occupancy by early 2007.
