Big Door adds Panasonic AG-HPX300 HD camcorders
Production company Big Door in Manhattan Beach, CA, recently purchased Panasonic’s new AG-HPX300 P2 HD shoulder-mount camcorders to serve a client base ranging from major broadcasters to top Fortune 500 companies.
The HPX300 is a 10-bit, 4:2:2 professional HD camcorder featuring independent-frame AVC-Intra recording and variable frame rates for creating fast- or slow-motion effects.
Currently, Big Door is using four HPX300s to shoot ABC’s “Music Lounge,” a concert series shot on the Disney. Previously Big Door used several HPX300s to shoot another assignment for ABC, a promotional pilot titled “Buzz Hunters.”
The ABC Music Lounge segments are being shot in the HPX300’s Cine Gamma V mode at 1080p/24fps in AVC-Intra 100. The cameras are used with an assortment of 32GB and 16GB P2 cards, and plans are in the works to acquire 64GB E-Series P2 cards when they become available later this summer.
