Bitcentral Announces Newest Newsroom Deployments
Bitcentral, an Irvine, Calif.-based developer of new automation systems has had its Precis digital news production system installed in nine TV stations since late July.
The stations include:
- WAFF, Huntsville, Ala.
- WLBT, Jackson, Miss.
- KMOV, St. Louis
- WPTZ, Plattsburgh, NY
- KHON, Honolulu, Hawaii
- KOHD, Bend, Ore.
- WINK, Ft. Meyers, Fla.
- WTMJ, Milwaukee
- WISE, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Bitcentral says all nine stations were able to convert from tape to complete digital automation within one week. The file-based Precis can be fully integrated with iNews, ENPS and a variety of editing systems including Canopus Edius, Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere Pro and Apple Final Cut Pro.
The company said that although Bitcentral servers and archiving systems initially operate on Hewlett Packard hardware, it also provides the option of purchasing other hardware and storage solutions of choice according to specific needs and supports full integration.
“The immense flexibility of the Precis system will allow us to maintain our archive online indefinitely,” added John Emmert, director of technology at WINK-TV in Ft. Myers, Fla. “Instead of purchasing ultra-expensive robotic, digital tape offline archives for old materials, as well as paying an archivist to manage the mess, the Precis system allows us to purchase an unlimited amount of inexpensive storage as needed for the future. This ensures that the ease by which our newsroom runs on the Precis now, continues well into the future - easy and hassle free.”
