blinkx Search Engine Delivers Content Via RSS
Media search engine developer blinkx, has introduced SmartFeed, a service to enable Internet users to receive personalized Internet video content via RSS (really simple syndication), an XML format design for sharing Web content.
SmartFeed uses voice recognition software to transcribe the content of audio and video segments of everything from commercial news content to podcasts and videoblogs, or vlogs.
From the blinkx.tv Web site users can enter a customized search of more than 30 channels from which they may receive content.
SmartFeed goes beyond what traditional RSS feeds retrieve, according to the company, and retrieves more than text-based feeds--it crawls the Web for rich media, identifying and processing hundreds of hours of content daily.
