Blue Ridge Goes Digital With Sundance
Blue Ridge Public TV has installed Sundance Digital's FastBreak Automation for its upgrade to HD and multi-program SD digital broadcasting.
Comprised of WBRA/WBRA-DT (Roanoke), WMSY/WMSY-DT (Marion) and WSBN/WSBN-DT (Norton), Blue Ridge's FaskBreak Automation configuration controls a SeaChange BMC-1637 server. It has four media Prep Stations for tape ingest and Intelli-Sat "Schedule and Record Manager" to capture SDI and ASI embedded video from 12 digital satellite receivers.
FastBreak Automation is a scaleable frame-accurate controller of video servers and other station peripherals, configuring four separate SDI channels with full redundancy. Two Sundance List Sync Air Station computers provide real-time playlist backup.
The automation system controls a Pro-Bel TX420 Master Control Panel for the main channel. Three Miranda ImageStores with Easyplay and a Pro-Bel 96 X 64 Eclipse SDI router. It will be able to key logos and duck audio on all four channels. The serial controls are routed through a 96-port Pro-Bel Freeway 422 switcher.
