Blu-ray Site Hacked to Competition
The next-gen disc war was no doubt behind some online mischief last weekend when the official Web site of the Blu-ray Disc Association was likely hacked by a still-unknown instigator, resulting in online visitors being involuntarily rerouted to the official Web site of arch rival HD DVD.
The trouble reportedly started last Friday afternoon (EST), Dec. 21, and persisted sporadically for several hours. Online users seeking the blu-raydisc.com Web site were sent to an HD DVD site.
No party has claimed responsibility for the apparently intentional misdirection, nor did either side in the next-gen format war respond publicly to the temporary problems, according to High-Def Digest.
