Brazilian TV network enters era of HD newscasts

TV Anhanguera, an affiliate of Brazilian TV network TV Globo, is migrating its owned-and-operated as well as affiliated facilities to full HD production with Thomson Grass Valley technology.

The TV Anhanguera network is using Grass Valley HD cameras and production switchers for a completely new HD studio. The network's main TV station is located in the city of Goiania, where a new HD control room and production studio will include five Grass Valley LDK 4000 HD cameras and two Kayak HD 3 M/E video production switchers. The new HD studio will begin producing a number of daily newscasts in January 2009.

TV Anhanguera also anticipates migrating its Palmas, Tocantins, facility to HD, where a Kayak HD 2 M/E will be installed.

TV Anhanguera operates 11 TV stations covering about 180 cities in central Brazil. The stations are members of the Globo Television Network, which provides its affiliates with national programming with time slots available for them to air local content.
