BPL Firm Ships First LCD HD Samples
Advanced Powerline Technologies (APT) has begun shipment of the first samples of its LCD HD sets from its Chinese plant to its assembly facilities in Woodward, Okla. The samples will set the stage for its other Broadband over Power Line (BPL) and Power Line Communications (PLC) friendly devices and services, the company reports.
The APT enterprise is a community-wide effort with a lot of support from the city of Woodward. Both the company and the city pride themselves on what they say will be the eventual relocation of the majority of APT's assembly jobs to the Oklahoma town. APT said its power line-centric technology significantly reduces many of the cable placements typically necessary to bring audio/video and Internet broadband to consumers.
APT's other principal product is cell phones, which it also plans to market domestically and overseas.
