Fox Affiliate Buys Scopus Satellite Encoder
Fox affiliate KTBC-TV has purchased the Scopus Video Networks CODICO E-1720 digital satellite newsgathering encoder for its facility in Austin, Texas.
The E-1720 was installed in the station's new DSNG truck--built by Shook Mobile Technology--in August and operated by a crew of two KTBC news photographers and was used to support live coverage of Hurricane Rita. KTBC has also use its new satellite newsgathering capability to launch a televised high school football program and will use it to cover key political events.
The E-1720 allows newsgathering teams to relay footage from most anywhere, according to Scopus. Integrated telemetry simplifies operation, enabling journalists to manage operation without the assistance of a satellite newsgathering operator on location. With the L-band output and MPEG-2 codec, it enables transmission of audio and video converted for satellite transmission.
