Vyvx, a provider of fiber-optic, teleport and satellite transmission services to the media and entertainment industries, recently extended its HD VenueNet capabilities to more than a dozen additional venues. The company gives U.S. broadcasters the ability to transport live HD feeds up to 270 MB over a dedicated MPLS (multi-protocol label switching) infrastructure.
Vyvx said HD VenueNet has been added to 13 National Football League stadiums, bringing the total number of sites on its network to 61. HD VenueNet currently is used at 29 NFL stadiums, 28 Major League Baseball parks, and four arenas used for both NBA and NHL games. All video feeds are monitored and managed from the Vyvx Network Operations Center in Tulsa, Okla.
The newly HD VenueNet locations include: M&T Bank Stadium (Baltimore), Gillette Stadium (Foxboro, Mass.), Ralph Wilson Stadium (Buffalo, N.Y.), Bank of America Stadium (Charlotte, N.C.), Paul Brown Stadium (Cincinnati), Browns Stadium (Cleveland), RCA Dome (Indianapolis), Alltel Stadium (Jacksonville), Arrowhead Stadium (Kansas City), Dolphins Stadium (Miami), The Coliseum (Nashville), McAfee Coliseum (Oakland), and Qualcomm Stadium (San Diego).
Vyvx says HD VenueNet will be used to deliver HD backhaul services for more than 200 live feeds in 2005, and it will deliver its third consecutive Super Bowl HD feed in 2006.
