HDNet Continues Second Season for Live NASCAR
HDNet will feature 20 live telecasts from the NASCAR Grand National Division, a tier of NASCAR's regional racing series, including the popular Busch North Series and West Series. HD coverage resumed on April 9 at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif. The first Busch North Series race will be telecast in HD from Thompson International Speedway on June 12. HDNet's coverage will also feature races from NASCAR's AutoZone Elite Division.
NASCAR fans are widely renowned by American TV and radio networks as constituting an extremely loyal demographic; its grandstand crowds and TV-radio ratings are among the largest of any sport in the United States. (Broadcaster NBC began offering NASCAR weekend coverage a few years ago; Fox currently covers NASCAR in HD as well.)
HDNet provides up to 20 hours a week of original news, sports, music and entertainment programming in 1080i. For non-HD viewers, the Speed Channel will re-air each of the HDNet-produced races in SD.
