Bexel Corp. has brought Brick House Video, a broadcast video design and manufacturing company onboard to provide standards converters for the 2006 Winter Games coverage in Torino. The U.K.-based company and its U.S. distributor Communitek Video Systems worked with Bexel to configure a conversion network capable of converting in real-time.
Brick House Video provided 12 Proteus standards converters to be used to convert the live feed from Italy's native PAL format. Proteus is a 4-Field, 4-Line motion adaptive unit with multi-format inputs and outputs.
"Bexel had very specific requirements," said Brian Isaacson, president of Communitek Video. "In addition to video conversion, the audio needs to be synchronous with the video, and Proteus' audio option fits the bill. It provides a variable audio delay to match the video delay from the conversion process and packages the whole solution in a very small 1 RU footprint."
