Broadcast Engineering and sponsor ADC to host Webcast on deploying and managing fiber upgrades
PRIMEDIA’s Broadcast Engineering, the television industry’s journal of digital television, announced that Brad Dick, editorial director of Broadcast Engineering, will join sponsor Jeff Peters of ADC, and panelists Tom Voigts of Roscor, and Bob Reed of Total Living Network (TLN), to host a free 60-minute Webcast on successful strategies for a fiber upgrade with best practices and lessons as told from the those who have already deployed fiber in their networks. The Webcast is 11 a.m. EST, Oct. 19.
To register, visit www.broadcastengineering.com/webcast/fiber. The Webcast will offer expert guidance on the differences between fiber and other media and why it’s important. Attendees will gain a better understanding of the benefits of fiber versus other media as well as technology and business trends driving fiber deployments. Peers, who have already deployed fiber in their network, will discuss how to protect and manage fiber as well as reveal best practices.
The need for insights and strategies on successfully implementing fiber upgrades is greater than ever. High-definition signals require high bandwidth cables and sometimes coax is not the appropriate solution. Fiber has been introduced to accommodate this need. Fiber allows engineers to handle both HD and multichannel signals in a small, lightweight and easy-to-install format.
The Webcast will cover the basics for studio applications. Attendees will learn about the different types of fiber, cable connectors, terminations and installation tips.
The hosts
Dick brings more than 27 years of experience in TV/radio engineering and is a certified SBE PBE. Dick is the author of the three-part series of Broadcast Engineering articles "Building Fiber Optic Transmission Systems." Jeff Peters, Senior Product Manager of ADC’s Broadcast and Entertainment product group, and sponsor of the event, will provide product options to the fiber upgrade discussion. Tom Voigts is Vice President of Systems Integration at Roscor Corporation and will deliver insight on project and systems integration. Bob Reed, Director of Technical Operations, Total Living Network (TLN), will discuss how to design broadcast and corporate presentation systems.
Attendees will gain access to related white papers, training seminars and Web sites.
