Broadcast Station Totals

published Last week, the FCC released the broadcast station totals as of March 31, 2006.
Compared with the March 2005 totals, the number of full power TV stations grew by seven -- from 1,745 as of March 31, 2005 to 1,752 as of March 31, 2006. Five of the additional stations were UHF commercial operations and two were new educational stations (one VHF and one UHF). The number of Class A TV stations decreased, going from 599 to 589 from March 2005 to March 2006. The number of LPTV stations increased significantly, from 2,071 a year ago to 2,157.
