Rainbow Media is using The Analyst RS422/RS232 Tester by DNF Controls to troubleshoot its data cabling infrastructure.
"We have many different data lines in our facility, with cables running from patch bay to data router to end device," said Peter Primavera, video maintenance specialist at Rainbow Media Holdings, LLC.
The Analyst RS422/RS232 Tester has a four-line by 40-character LCD screen, an eight-key keyboard and separate RS422/RS232 connectors. It does not require opening up cables or de-soldering pins. It monitors communication between equipment, verifies signal paths, identifies RS422/RS232 adapter problems and is targeted for use in remote production setups, new studio builds or facility upgrades, and in the maintenance of existing facilities and systems.
Rainbow Media, a subsidiary of Cablevision Systems, is also using DNF Controls ST300 and ST400 VTR controllers and SW32PS port switchers in its Bethpage, N.Y. facility.
