Cable Companies Discuss Plans for Interactive Video
Executives from several large cable television operating companies discussed plans for trials of advanced interactive video technologies at a news conference organized by CableLabs at the recent International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Brian Roberts, Comcast chairman and chief executive officer, said that his company would begin deployment of the new OCAP (OpenCable Application Technology) in four markets served by Comcast.
Glenn Britt, Time Warner Cable chairman and chief executive officer reported that OCAP would be tried out in five Time Warner markets, including New York City.
Executives from Cox Communications and Cablevision made similar announcements.
