Calrec Consoles Outfit CNBC
CNBC will install three Calrec Audio Sigma 100 digital consoles as part of its new headquarters in Englewood, N.J. The facility is expected to go live on air this fall and is NBC's first all-digital network.
CNBC chose Calrec because its mix minus output can be a mix-minus feed along with a bank of multitrack sends for more outputs. In addition, the desk's DSP redundancy and card/module hot plugging was important because it broadcasts live 16 hours a day, according to CNBC audio mixing engineer John Kerswell.
"Any of our three Sigma consoles will operate with any of our three different studios," says CNBC Technical Operations Manager Lenny Stote. "We'll have resources and file sharing and digitally remote-controlled microphones installed as well."
