Camera stability plays critical role at World Cup

published With eight teleproduction trucks covering events at the 12 stadiums during the just-concluded 2006 FIFA World Cup soccer matches, camera support manufacturer Vinten estimates nearly 200 pieces of its equipment were used during production of the tournament.
One factor in the wide use of Vinten tripods and camera bases for the World Cup was a more extensive use of high-definition cameras and lenses. According to Vinten marketing manager Peter Harman, high definition cameras require “much longer, larger lenses” so the need for a stable camera base is important to successful production.
