Canada: Bell TV to Carry Multiple HD HBO Channels
Bell TV plans to include HBO Canada to its program menu starting on Oct. 30, the pay-TV service said in Montreal. Bell TV said it now delivers more HD channels coast-to-coast than any other television service in Canada.
A Bell spokesman said his firm will offer HBO Canada in both HD and SD channels, along with some "secondary" HD/SD channels featuring the same HBO programming within a two-hour time shift—giving Bell subs multiple chances to watch HBO programs (along with providing identical prime time fare to more than one time zone, as well).
Bell said HBO Canada will be included with all Bell TV subscriptions to two of its proprietary tiers (The Movie Network and Movie Central) for no extra fee, starting at the end of the month.
Some HBO content had already been made available to Canadians by Bell a few months ago—via mobile phones.
