Canada: Citytv Toronto Revs Up HD
CHUM Television began airing its "Citytv Toronto" daily newscasts in HD Oct. 2. "CityNews at Noon," "CityNews at Six" and "CityNews at 11" all took the HD plunge--along with Toronto's top-rated morning show, "BT-BreakfastTelevision" and the syndicated lifestyle program stripped across the week, "CityLine."
CHUM said it has several "firsts" to its credit in the HD arena, notably as the first Canadian broadcaster to begin airing HD specials in early 2003, and the leader in producing in-house HD programs starting in June 2003.
CitytvHD Toronto is available on Rogers Cable (Channel 134) and Bell ExpressVu (Channel 803). CHUM owns and operates a dozen broadcast stations, 33 radio stations, and 21 "specialty" channels throughout Canada.
