Canada: TSN Airs 9 Hours of Breeders' Cup in HD
Last weekend's Breeders Cup World Championship may have originated at Santa Anita Park in California, but Canadian HD viewers got an eyeful with more than nine hours of coverage of the Thoroughbred racing events via TSN over a two-day period.
The series of races (with a total purse of about $25 million) was covered on Oct. 24-25 and was made available on TSN's HD tier. The sporting event also marked a "first" of sorts: It was the first horse-racing spectacle of its kind in North America to feature races that included only female thoroughbreds through an entire race day (Oct. 24).
TSN is a major sports network serving Canada via HD/SD digital television, broadband, and mobile phones.
