Canadian DBS Provider to Use Ikegami HD Cameras
Canadian DBS provider Bell ExpressVu recently bought several Ikegami HD studio cameras for use in Bell's rollout and promotion of HD channels. The cameras purchased are two HDK-720Ps, which are native 720/60p.
The cameras employ 2/3-inch one-megapixel FIT (720p) CCD image sensors for direct CCD readout with no converter in 720p progressive mode. The signal transmission and power feed between the camera head and CCU is sent via fiber optic composite cables up to 3,000 m (or 2,000 m for the studio type). Next-generation ASICs ensure low power consumption and processing.
Bell ExpressVu will use the cameras to shoot promos, interstitials and movie promo interviews to support its expansion of HD channels and for developing live HD sports and entertainment co-productions.
