CBS to Broadcast PGA Championship in HDTV
Argent Mortgage Co. is sponsoring CBS's high definition coverage of the 2004 PGA Championship in HD this weekend.
The tournament will be broadcast in HD, 5.1 Dolby Digital audio on the third and final rounds of the event, Aug. 14-15 from 2:00p.m.-7:00p.m, EDT live on both days from Whistling Straits, in Haven, Wis. Both SD and HD productions will feature the same announcers, camera angles, replays and graphics.
In 2004, CBS Sports will broadcast 39 weekends of sports programming in HD including 10 PGA Tour events. The first golf tournament to be broadcast live in HDTV was the 2000 Masters. CBS also presented an HDTV broadcast of a PGA Tour event at the 2001 Sony Open.
