CEA Releases PSIP Recommendations
The CEA published guidance for DTV receiver manufacturers on PSIP (Program and System Information Protocal) data, heralding DTV features such as electronic program guides, child-protection functions and even setting the receiver's clock.
"This bulletin is an important tool for manufacturers of digital television receivers," said Adam Goldberg, manager of standards for Sharp Laboratories of America and chairman of CEA's TV Data Systems Committee. "It will help advance the digital television transition by recommending consistent uses of PSIP data features."
The bulletin, EIA/CEA-CEB12, is meant for use along with ATSC standards A/65A and A/69. It's available at http://global.his.com.
