Charter Broadcast delivers HD studio, control room for Rugby World Cup coverage
UK TV rental company Charter Broadcast provided Network Ten Australia with a studio and control room as well as audio and graphics capability for HD presentation of 48 rugby matches played last month as part of the Rugby World Cup 2007 in Paris.
Charter provided an HD solution situated on the ninth floor of an office overlooking Avenue des Champs-Elysées. It designed an HD solution that could be transported up to the ninth floor using a 6.4ft by 3.2ft elevator.
To provide Australian viewers with a seamless connection to the games, Charter Broadcast provided all of the equipment required to allow Network Ten to offer coverage, using eight incoming feeds from the Rugby World Cup International Broadcasting Center, including two HD Dolby E, four SD stereo, one SD SNG downlink from Frankfurt and one SD local feed via fiber from across France. Charter also used EVS tapeless technology along with a three HD camera studio, Thomson Grass Valley Kalypso 4ME HD switcher and 5.1 Dolby E Surround audio facilities.
