Charter Communications, Belo reach retransmission accord
Belo has reached a retransmission agreement in principle with Charter Communications in several markets, clearing the way for the broadcast group to maintain carriage of its analog and HD signals on various local Charter cable systems.
The agreement covers signals in 11 of Belo's 15 markets, including: KMOV-TV in St. Louis; WFAA-TV in Dallas/Fort Worth; WWL-TV and WUPL-TV in New Orleans, WCNC-TV in Charlotte, NC; KGW-TV in Portland, OR; WVEC-TV in Hampton/Norfolk, VA; KING-TV and KONG-TV in Seattle/Tacoma; KREM-TV and KSKN-TV in Spokane, WA; KHOU-TV in Houston; KTVB in Boise, ID; and WHAS-TV in Louisville, KY. The agreement also covers carriage of two of the company's 24-hour new channels, Northwest Cable News and Texas Cable News.
The agreement resolves a conflict, which as recently as last week looked as if would end carriage of the stations Jan. 1.
