The Beijing Olympic Broadcasting Co. (BOB) has chosen Avitech MCC Multi-viewers to equip BOB's first HD broadcast van CR. Avitech said in a statement it will work within other infrastructure requirements for BOB's planned extensive live outdoor coverage of the summer games.
BOB will serve as primary producer and distributor of the Olympic (and Paralympics) Games in the summer of 2008, and oversee construction and operation of the International Broadcasting Center.
The outdoor broadcast van will be equipped with more than 40 Avitech MCC-8004 multi-image display processors. The setup also will include more than a dozen Grass Valley LDK6000 cameras, a Concerto routing switcher, several Jupiter control systems and an HD Kalypso production switcher.
The all-digital van is currently under construction and scheduled to begin test runs this fall.
